Rooftop
Lately I've been playing at The Rooftop YYC. I got my first gig with them through the homie @djsonidef who asked me to cover last minute. It's a cool covered rooftop spot in downtown Calgary. My first set there was from 9pm-1am and it was a really good challenge. It's the biggest room I've played, and it was a bit hard to read the crowd with how many people there were and how spread out they were. I think I managed the energy really well and had a surprising number of dancefloors throughout the night. The set was also really helpful for exposing a bunch of gaps in my library that I would like to fill. It also gave me a lot of experience with dealing with requests :)
Even more recently, I've been playing 6-9pm sets on Fridays/Saturdays with them for their dinner service. These have been some of my favorite sets to play in awhile. They've given me a reason to play some old favorites from my low/mid energy crates that I haven't been able to play much of lately. It's also been fun having a place to try to work in oddball or non-dancy tunes to see how they play.
Here's an example mix from one of these sets!
Overall, I've been having a great time at The Rooftop. The staff are super welcoming and I love my current timeslot. Hoping to be able to keep bringing interesting, chill vibes for some time to come.
